Sangkuriang

Initially it was told in heaven there were a pair of gods and goddesses who made mistakes, then by Sang Hyang Tunggal they were cursed down to earth in the form of animals. The goddess turned into a wild boar (boar) named boar Wayung Hyang, while the god turned into a dog named the Tumang. They must come down to earth to carry out the punishment and ask for forgiveness in order to return to its form to become gods and goddesses again.

It is said that Raja Sungging Perbangkara was going hunting. In the middle of the forest the King threw urine collected in caring leaves (taro forests), in another version it is mentioned that the urine of the king is accommodated in coconut shells. A female boar named Celeng Wayung Hyang who was imprisoned was thirsty, he then accidentally drank the king's urine earlier. Wayung Hyang miraculously became pregnant and gave birth to a beautiful baby, because basically she was a goddess. The beautiful baby was found in the middle of the forest by the king who did not realize that he was his daughter. The baby girl was taken to the palace by her father and given the name Dayang Sumbi alias Rarasati. Dayang Sumbi grew into a very beautiful girl. Many kings and princes who wanted to ask for her hand, but no one was accepted.

Eventually the kings fought with one another. Dayang Sumbi was at her own request exiled on a hill accompanied by a male dog, namely Si Tumang. When weaving cloth, torompong (piston) which is being used to weave cloth falls under.

Sangkuriang was scared and ran away from home. Dayang Sumbi, who regretted his actions, had chased his son away, sought out and summoned Sangkuriang to the forest to beg him to go home immediately, but Sangkuriang had left. Dayang Sumbi was very sad and begged Sang Hyang Tunggal to meet his son later. For this reason, Dayang Sumbi runs penances and practices that only eat raw vegetables and vegetables (fresh vegetables). Sangkuriang himself went wandering around the world. Sangkuriang went to sit with many powerful ascetics, so that Sangkuriang is now no longer a boy, but has grown into a strong, powerful, and brave young man. After walking for a long time toward the east finally came to the west again and unconsciously had arrived back at Dayang Sumbi, his mother was. Sangkuriang did not recognize that the beautiful princess he found was Dayang Sumbi - his mother. Because Dayang Sumbi did penance and behavior only ate raw plants, Dayang Sumbi remained beautiful and youthful. Dayang Sumbi was not initially aware that the handsome knight was his own son. Then both human beings were affectionate. When Sangkuriang was leaning intimate and Dayang Sumbi combing Sangkuriang's hair, Dayang Sumbi accidentally learned that Sangkuriang was his son, with a sign of a wound on his head, a scoop from Dayang Sumbi's spoon. Nevertheless Sangkuriang still forced to marry her. Dayang Sumbi desperately tried to resist. So he intends to determine the terms of the proposal that Sangkuriang cannot possibly fulfill. Dayang Sumbi requested that Sangkuriang make a boat and lake (lake) overnight by damming the Citarum river. Sangkuriang agreed.

Then made a boat from a tree that grows in the east, the tree stump / tree turns into the Bukit Bukit Embankment. Its branches are piled to the west and become Mount Burangrang. With the help of the guriang (spirits), the dam was almost done. But Dayang Sumbi begged Sang Hyang Tunggal so that Sangkuriang's intentions would not be carried out. Dayang Sumbi scattered strands of boeh rarang (white woven fabric), then the white cloth shined like the dawn that broke in the eastern horizon. The spirits of Sangkuriang's subordinates were frightened because they thought the day began in the morning, so they ran away hiding in the ground. Because he failed to meet Dayang Sumbi's requirements, Sangkuriang became angry and raged. At the peak of his anger, the dam in Sanghyang Tikoro was broken down, the plug of the Citarum river flow was thrown eastward and transformed into Mount Manglayang. Air Talaga Bandung became receding. The boat which he worked with difficulty kicked it towards the north and changed its form to Tangkuban Perahu Mountain.

Sangkuriang kept chasing Dayang Sumbi who ran away to avoid the pursuit of her son who had lost his senses. Dayang Sumbi was almost caught by Sangkuriang at Gunung Putri and he begged Sang Hyang Tunggal to save him and begged that his son's sangkuriang immediately realized that his actions to marry his own mother were untrue, and Dayang Sumbi's prayer was granted. Sangkuriang who chased the maid of the wick fell and hit her head with a rock and she fainted. Then the handmaid did not have the heart to the condition of her son, she took care of her son until healed, and after that too, sangkuriang began to realize and not remember at all about his feelings for the mother, who he remembered that the woman's handkerchief was his long-awaited mother. And they lived happily and not long ago from that incident sangkuriang married a girl and lived happily.
